Durante la recita di ogni serie il pensiero è dato a uno dei Misteri del Rosario che ricorda gli eventi nella vita di Gesù e Maria. Cinque decadi sono recitati per rosario. Altre preghiere vengono talvolta aggiunte prima o dopo ogni decennio. I rosari sono un aiuto per dire queste preghiere nella giusta sequenza.

Il Rosario è iniziato sul filo corto:

Il segno della croce sul Crocifisso;
La preghiera "O Signore apri le mie labbra O Dio vieni in mio aiuto Signore affrettati ad aiutarmi" sempre sul Crocifisso;
Il Credo degli Apostoli ancora sul Crocifisso;
La preghiera del Signore al primo grande tallone (per le intenzioni del papa e le esigenze della Chiesa);
L'Ave Maria su ciascuna delle tre perle successive (per le tre virtù teologali: fede speranza e carità); e
The Glory Be sul prossimo grande tallone.
Segue la preghiera dei decenni ripetendo questo ciclo per ogni mistero:

Annuncia il mistero;
La preghiera del Signore sul grande tallone;
L'Ave Maria su ciascuna delle dieci perline adiacenti;

I Misteri del Rosario sono meditazioni sugli episodi della vita e della morte di Gesù dall'Annunciazione all'Ascensione e oltre noti come i misteri gioiosi (o gioiosi) i misteri dolorosi e i misteri gloriosi. Ognuno di questi Misteri contempla cinque diversi stadi della vita di Cristo.

Coloro che sono fedeli a recitare il Rosario avranno durante la loro vita e alla loro morte la luce di Dio e la pienezza delle sue grazie; al momento della morte parteciperanno ai meriti dei santi in paradiso.

The prayers that make up the Rosary are arranged in groups of ten Hail Marys called decades. Every decade is preceded by a prayer of the Lord and followed by a Gloria Be. During the recitation of each series the thought is given to one of the Mysteries of the Rosary which recalls events in the life of Jesus and Mary. Five decades are recited for rosary. Other prayers are sometimes added before or after each decade. The rosaries are an aid to say these prayers in the right sequence.

The Rosary began on the short thread:

The sign of the cross on the Crucifix;

The Mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on the episodes of the life and death of Jesus from the Annunciation to Ascension and beyond known as the joyful (or joyous) mysteries the sorrowful mysteries and the glorious mysteries.
