ألف ليلة وليلة أو كما تعرف لدى الغرب (بالإنجليزية: Arabian Nights) أي الليالي العربية هي مجموعة متنوعة من القصص الشعبية عددها حوالي مئتي قصة يتخللها شعر في نحو 1420 مقطوعة، ويرجع تاريخها الحديث عندما ترجمها إلى الفرنسية المستشرق الفرنسي أنطوان جالان عام 1704م، والذي صاغ الكتاب بتصرف كبير، وصار معظم الكتاب يترجم عنه طوال القرن الثامن عشر وما تلاه. وقد قُلّدت الليالي بصورة كبيرة واستعملت في تأليف القصص وخاصة قصص الأطفال، كما كانت مصدراً لإلهام الكثير من الرسامين والموسيقيين. وتحتوي قصص ألف ليلة وليلة على شخصيات أدبية خيالية مشهورة منها علاء الدين، وعلي بابا والأربعين حرامي ومعروف الإسكافي وعلى زيبق المصرى والسندباد البحري، وبدور في شهرزاد وشهريار الملك، والشاطر حسن.
أما الحقائق الثابتة حول أصلها، فهي أنها لم تخرج بصورتها الحالية، وإنما أُلّفت على مراحل وأضيفت إليها على مر الزمن مجموعات من القصص بعضها لها أصول هندية قديمة معروفة، وبعضها مأخوذة من أخبار العرب وقصصهم الحديثة نسبياً. أما موطن هذه القصص، فقد ثبت أنها تمثل بيئات شتى خيالية وواقعية، وأكثر البيئات بروزا هي في مصر والعراق وسوريا. والقصص بشكلها الحالي يرجح كتابتها في القرن الرابع عشر الميلادي 1500م. وقد قامت دولة مصر منذ عدة سنوات بإنتاج عمل درامي إذاعي لهذا الكتاب، أخرجه محمد محمود شعبان وبطولة الفنانة زوزو نبيل وعمر الحريري وآخرون. وفي عام 1984 قام التلفزيون المصري ولأول مرة بإنتاج مسلسل ألف ليلة وليلة سيناريو وحوار أحمد بهجت وبطولة نجلاء فتحي وحسين فهمي وإخراج عبد العريز السكري.
One Thousand and One Nights or also known in the West (in English: Arabian Nights) any Arabian Nights are a variety of popular stories in number about two hundred story punctuated by hair in about 1420 cut dating to talk when translated into French Frenchman Antoine Galland Orientalist in 1704 AD and who coined Adapted great book and became the most translated book with him throughout the eighteenth century onwards. Nights have been reduced significantly and is used in the formation of the stories and special children's stories as it was a source of inspiration for a lot of painters and musicians. It contains stories of One Thousand and One Nights on the literary famous fictional characters including Aladdin and Ali Baba and known cobbler and Zabak Maritime and Sinbad and role in the Scheherazade and King Shahryar and good boy.
The hard facts about their origin are that it did not come out in its current form but draw on the stages and added to over time collections of stories some of them well-known ancient Indian origin and some are taken from the Arab News relatively modern stories. The home of these stories it has been proven that they represent various fanciful and realistic environments and more environments are prominent in Egypt Iraq and Syria. And stories in its current form is likely to be written in the fourteenth century AD 1500. State of Egypt has several years ago to produce a radio drama of this book directed by Mohamed Mahmoud Shaban starring actress Zozo Nabil Omar al-Hariri and others. In 1984 the Egyptian television for the first time to produce the series of One Thousand and One Nights screenplay and dialogue Ahmed Bahgat Championship Najla Fathi Hussein Fahmi and directed by Abdul Aeryz diabetes.
