Privacy and optional access
Modesmith has no ads analytics SDKs third-party crash reporting user accounts cloud sync or developer-operated launcher-data server. Launcher settings and learning stay local. JSON backups are created only when you choose a save location.
Optional access is used only for features you enable:
Contacts: local Contact Search.
Calendar: upcoming events and Calendar Event Smart Triggers.
Nearby Devices: connected-device displays and paired Bluetooth triggers; no scanning.
Foreground location: Location Smart Triggers and current-location capture. Location is used only while Modesmith is open and visible. There is no background-location permission or location upload and sampled positions and visit history are not stored. Saved trigger coordinates stay local unless you explicitly export a JSON backup.
Notification access: badges local media controls and optional dismissal of Guest-hidden app notifications.
Camera: flashlight only; no photos or video.
Notifications: local timer alerts.
Do Not Disturb and system settings: only for DND and auto-rotation actions you configure.
Guest Mode can hide apps protect settings with Android’s device credential screen and optionally dismiss notifications from hidden apps.
Accessibility Service API disclosure
Modesmith includes an optional Accessibility Service used only for actions chosen by the user such as locking the screen or opening Android’s notification or Quick Settings panels from a Home gesture dock action or search action.
Modesmith is a launcher not an accessibility tool. It does not use Accessibility access to read screen content collect text monitor other apps track user actions capture passwords record audio perform remote actions or collect or share personal data. The service cannot retrieve window content is not required for normal launcher use and can be disabled at any time in Android Accessibility settings.
Before opening Accessibility settings Modesmith shows an in-app disclosure explaining why access is requested.
Basic and Pro
The core Basic launcher remains usable. Optional Pro access unlocks higher limits and advanced modes schedules Smart Triggers privacy controls widgets icons Smart Pills search and backup tools. Purchases and restoration use Google Play Billing.
Modesmith is for people who want a calmer home screen without losing speed or flexibility.
